Boise Idaho Photographer: More than Statistics

It appears that to most people, unless they have experienced the horrific tragedy of losing someone because of a drunk driver, the statistics are just statistics. As an artist I am focused on creating bodies of work to bring awareness, that are filled with emotion, and evoke feelings that cannot be ignored.

Starting in August (2013), I will begin a photography series that forces viewers to see more than just statistics in regards to impaired driving. The series will feature survivors and victims who have lived through a crash and its aftermath involving an impaired driver. They will have the opportunity to share their stories and the stories of their loved ones who cannot share them for themselves.

Each person or group of people represented (families and groups are welcome!), will be photographed from the waist up, covered in RED paint. The red paint which makes a bold visual statement is known to many as an awareness ribbon color associated with driving crashes caused by impaired drivers. Each person or group of people will have the opportunity to hand write, in their own words, their story which will be incorporated into their photograph.

I am looking for volunteers willing be a part of this. Everyone and anyone are welcome! If you have a story to tell, have been affected in anyway, directly or indirectly, please join me in my efforts to influence a change and stop these preventable tragedies.

About the Artist:  Annelise Woodward, a Fine Art Photography Student at Boise State University, will be working on this series from August (2013) through October (2013) as her final body of work in her Bachelors of Fine Arts program.
